8-Day Ascending Mount Toubkal
Overview
Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa. It is surrounded by giant foothills, forming a beautiful mountain range with several peaks above 3000m. There are various routes to explore this area. This massif is the most accessible in the High Atlas, located near Marrakech and the beautiful valleys of Asni, Imlil, Azaden, and Oukaimeden, the only ski resort in all of Africa. This week-long trek is a true high-altitude hiking experience. With a classic itinerary, it offers a challenging yet manageable ascent on well-marked trails to reach the summit at 4167m. The panoramic view of the western High Atlas and the Saharan massif adds to the charm of this trek.

Tour Plan
Arrival at the airport, welcome, and transfer to the hotel.
Departure by vehicle to Oukaimeden at 2550m, meet the muleteer team, picnic. Start the trek by crossing the Tizi N'Eddi pass at 2928m. Descend to Tachdirt at 2300m, overnight camping (2 hours drive). Walking time: 4 hours Elevation gain: +400m Elevation loss: -650m Accommodation: Camping
Through the Tizi n'Likemt pass at 3500m, we reach the Azibs n'Likemt at 2500m, isolated and bustling sheepfolds during the summer season. Continue through the Tinzart Valley, and camp by a stream at 2700m. Walking time: 7 hours Elevation gain: +1200m Elevation loss: -1000m Accommodation: Camping
Experience the high mountain ambiance and cross the arid Tizi n'Ouraï pass at 3109m. Descend to the village of Amsouzert (1800m), one of the largest villages in the Tifnout Valley. Continue the trek to cross the moraine of Lake Ifni and set up camp by the lake. Enjoy the superb cirque formed by a former glacier. Overnight camping at 2300m.

Ascend through a well-maintained mule trail that is set up each year after the snow melts. In the magnificent setting of the high mountains, reach the Tizi Ouanoums pass at 3650m, descend briefly, and camp near the Neltner Refuge at 3105m. Overnight camping.

Early morning ascent of the highest peak in North Africa, following the classic route. The zigzag trail gradually leads to the geodetic point at 4167m, offering a wide view of the Anti-Atlas, pre-Saharan massifs, and the Marrakech plain. Descend via the northern route above the Ighouliden waterfalls and set up camp at 2800m below Neltner.

Last morning of hiking, passing through the sanctuary of Sidi Chamharouch (a pilgrimage site). Continue along the N'Aït Mizane river to reach the Aremd basin (Toubkal National Park) at 1900m, then Imlil at 1700m. Enjoy a final lunch under the centuries-old walnut trees. Return to Marrakech by minibus through the Moulay Brahim gorges. Free time to explore the medina. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
