Overview

Located between the Bani mountain range and the Sarho mountain range, this trekking journey takes us to the doorstep of the Moroccan Sahara. Trekking and camel hiking are fantastic means of exploring these authentic desert spaces. Here, we immerse ourselves in the Sahara, amidst the vast sand dunes of Morocco. This camel trek offers us magnificent landscapes, from ergs to plateaus, passing through nomadic camps.

Tour Plan

Arrival in Marrakech, transfer to the hotel in the Medina.

Early morning departure by 4x4 to cross the Tichka Pass at 2260m, descend to Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley. Lunch along the way, arrival in Zagora, water resupply, and then continue on a track that leads us to our first bivouac at the foot of Tiz N'alaouj, where we meet the camel team.

6 hours of road and 1 hour of track.

Ascend to Tizi N'alaouj to cross the Bani massif, descend to an oasis, have lunch, and in the afternoon, visit the Nomad School before reaching our bivouac in the dunes of Erg L'Ghoul. 5 hours and 30 minutes of walking.

Head south, crossing the largest dune of Erg L'Ghoul and the entire massif of small dunes to reach our bivouac at Erg Laalm, north of the Draa River. 5 hours of walking.

Continuing in the dunes before crossing a small forest of tamarisks. Bivouac at Erg Ain Touba. 4 hours of walking. In the afternoon, stroll in the dunes.

Head north, crossing the massif of dunes of Erg Lamhazil, bivouac on the edge of the dunes and at the beginning of Lake Iriki. 4 hours of walking.

After breakfast, transfer by 4x4 through Lake Iriki, drive towards M'Daouer Lakbir and the small town of Foum Zuid, then head towards Taznakhte. Lunch on the way. Continue the journey to Marrakech via the Tichka Pass. Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

8 hours of road and track.

Transfer to the airport.
