8-Day Hiking The Red Mountains of Tassaout : Central Atlas
Overview
The heart of the Central Atlas, at the foot of rounded and majestic peaks, jealously hides high plateaus and numerous villages of astonishing beauty. This itinerary, nestled between the austere heights of Jebel Andghomer, the Tessaout river, and the beautiful villages of Timlouline, Imchkioun, and Tizloutine with their red and ochre colors, is one of our most unique summer hikes. The Tessaout river and its region were undoubtedly the most “sung” in the oral tradition of these remote mountains. This hike is an immersion into the heart of ancient times and the way of life in the Berber valleys.

Tour Plan
Arrival at the airport, welcome, and transfer to the hotel.
Early morning departure by minibus to Demnate, Imi n'Ifri, and Alamsa. Meeting with the muleteer team and the start of the hike. Magnificent view and bivouac near the azibs of Tiniwilt (1957m). 4 hours of walking.
After a pass at 2348m, descent to the village of Aït Mgharine (1872m) for lunch. In the afternoon, we reach the village of Aït Bouahi (1471m). 5 hours and 30 minutes of walking.
The Jebel de Sidi Meskour and crossing through a pine forest before reaching the Tessaout river (1400m). 5 hours of walking.
Crossing through numerous villages. Beautiful ambiance towards the pastures of Anhki sheepfolds (2253m). 6 hours and 30 minutes of walking.
Heading towards Lake Mchalt (2473m), crossing a pass to reach the Assif N'Tichki and the alpine meadows of the Ibghil plateau at 2350m. Summer pastoral life, a beautiful site to bivouac. 5 hours and 30 minutes of walking.
After the pass at 2600m, a beautiful panorama before descending into the Red Valley to the villages of Agourd, Aguensou, and Tahbant. Picnic on-site, short transfer, then road (2 hours) to Marrakech. Check-in at the hotel, free dinner.
