8-Day Marrakech to South Tracks Hikes
Overview
In the southern region, we will explore the full range of Saharan landscapes: hamadas, regs, and sand dunes. With the daily presence of 4×4 vehicles, we have great mobility to discover multiple sites that are quite distant. On foot, we will explore vast dune spaces, oasis heartlands, summit rocky peaks, and immerse ourselves in an authentic culture. Tazzarine, a former oasis nestled at the foot of Djebel Sgaho, followed by the beautiful region of Foum Tizza, a true gateway to the desert, and finally Merzouga with its dunes—these are the sites where we will hike before returning through the southern slopes of the Atlas Mountains and the Dades Valley.

Tour Plan
Transfer to Ouarzazate. Transfer and overnight stay at the hotel.
Departure from Ouarzazate by 4x4 along the Drâa Valley route. Discover the oases of Tamnougalt and Tazzarine. Bivouac in the dunes of Foum Tiza.
Hike along a sandy ridge, then depart by 4x4 towards Djebel Zireg, passing through the beautiful villages of Oum Jrane and Tafraout. Bivouac at the foot of the Blue Mountains.
Continue on foot into the heart of the Zireg circus, then cross the Rheris wadi by 4x4 to reach the lost oasis of Eramliya and the Erg Znagui. Bivouac amidst the dunes.
Short transfer to the foot of the Merzouga dunes, then a full day of hiking in the highest dunes of Morocco. Picnic in the heart of the dunes. Bivouac in the eastern part of the erg.
Short morning walk, then depart by 4x4 towards Erfoud, Tinghir, and the Dades Valley. Take the track to Boutaghar. Bivouac by the M'Goun river.
After breakfast, embark on a half-day hike in the villages of the Rose Valley. Picnic in nature and transfer to Ouarzazate via Kelaa M'Gouna. Arrive in Ouarzazate in the mid-afternoon.
After breakfast start the way back to Marrakech. Transfer to airport / your Hotel.
