8-Day Oasis and Kasbahs Hiking
Overview
At the foot of the Central High Atlas, on the southern slope, stretch magnificent fields of roses, and fortified villages emerge from the greenery. The ruins of kasbahs still form part of the region’s landscape, with El-Kelaa M’gouna being the capital where the famous “Rose Festival” takes place during the first week of May, bringing together the inhabitants of the high valleys of Dades and M’goun for three days of celebration.

Tour Plan
Arrival at the airport, welcome, and transfer to the hotel.
Transfer by the road to Ouarzazate, heading south, crossing the High Atlas at Tichka Pass, which reaches an altitude of 2260m. The journey offers a great diversity of landscapes. We continue towards Ouarzazate, the city of cinema, and then eastwards, parallel to the High Atlas, towards the Dadès Valley and the land of roses. We arrive at the starting point of our hike and the meeting point with the muleteer team in the village of Ait Ihia. After loading our luggage, we cross this large village and walk across a vast desert plateau towards M'goun. Bivouac at Timkkit at 1500m. Walking duration: 2 to 2.5 hours.
After half an hour of walking on flat terrain, we ascend towards the Tifidy Pass at 1823m and then descend slightly to Akka n'Asskar. We have lunch by the water, shaded by oleander trees. In the afternoon, we traverse desert landscapes, passing by a few small gardens, and bivouac at Timassinine at 1800m. Walking duration: 5 hours and 45 minutes to 6 hours.
We cross the Jbel Anchouch and descend into the small valley of Ait Hamd, passing by the villages of Imzil and Rbat. We have lunch at the entrance of the Agouti Gorges. In the afternoon, we explore the stunning gorges (be prepared to wear sandals and occasionally walk through water) until we reach the beautiful villages of Agouti and Lhout with their impressive kasbahs. Bivouac at the outskirts of the village at 1700m. Walking duration: 5 hours and 45 minutes to 6 hours.
We continue our journey through the gardens and villages of the Ait Hamd Valley and then transition to the M'goun Valley, following the watercourse (be prepared to wear sandals and occasionally walk through water). We reach the large village of Boutaghrar and have lunch there. The afternoon is optional, and we can climb a hill overlooking the village and the valley before returning to the bivouac. Walking duration: 4 hours.
We continue along the M'goun Valley, encountering villagers working on their land and passing through beautiful villages with typical mud architecture. We have lunch in Hdida, and in the afternoon, we stroll along the irrigation canals and through the gardens until we reach the village of Taberkachte, where we spend the night in a guesthouse. Walking duration: 5 hours and 30 minutes to 6 hours.
We return to Ouarzazate following the same route, with lunch after the Tichka Pass. In the afternoon, we arrive in Marrakech and check-in at the hotel. The evening is free for leisure.
