8-Day Desert Trekking Adventure: Exploring Erg Rhoul and Jbel Bani

Explore the Mysteries of the Moroccan Desert on a Camel Trek: From Sand to Rock, Oases to Geltas
Embark on a wondrous trek to discover and rediscover the Moroccan desert, as you travel at the rhythm of the caravan of pack camels. Starting at the foot of the High Atlas, heading towards the Sahara, the Drâa Valley is a green trench that flows towards the south. Once a wide river, the oued is now an incredibly long palm grove, with lush oases and rich villages that are well worth a visit.
Leaving our modern vehicles behind, we will join the caravan of pack camels near Zagora, to the west of the valley. Our trek first takes us to explore the Djebel Bani, whose austere ridges suddenly give way to the desert plateaus. After a restful night in a bivouac, we venture into the great southern sand dunes of Erg Chégaga, with their seemingly endless vistas that coexist with sun-blackened rock formations. Accompanied by our trusty companions, the camels, we progress through the wavy Saharan dune formations shaped by the gods of wind.
The rocky peaks and gueltas of the Oued Mhasseur will give way to the dunes of Erg Ebidliya. This trek will take us on a journey through these landscapes of frozen sand waves, facing immensity and silence. Guided by a team of camel herders, the Aït Atta Berbers, our caravan will make its way to the palm groves of Mhamid and the lush Drâa Valley.

Tour Plan
Pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Marrakech with breakfast included.
7.5-hour drive and off-road adventure. Early morning departure towards the south and the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We cross to the southern side of the Atlas Mountains towards Ouarzazate, Zagora, and the Djebel Bani. Picnic lunch on the way. In the late afternoon, we arrive at Djebel Bani and meet our camel team. We will camp overnight.
Start of the trek. A short uphill climb to a pass and descent towards the dunes at the foot of Djebel Bani. Walk into the heart of the dunes and camp for the night.
Immerse ourselves in the dunes of Chegaga, Rhoul, and Mhazil. Camp in the dunes for the evening.
Continue the trek between the dunes of Chegaga, Rhoul, and Mhazil. Camp in the dunes for the night.
Continue walking among the sand dunes to enjoy the last moments of the shimmering red sun over Chegaga, Rhoul, and Mhazil. Camp in the dunes for the evening.
Short morning trek to meet the 4x4 vehicles. Return to Foum Zguid, Tazenakht, and the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Picnic lunch or a small restaurant on the way.
Arrive in Marrakech around 7:00 pm.
Overnight stay in Marrakech with breakfast included.
Transfer to the airport.
